Spine Poetry

14 May

Hello! Think of all my extra appearances this week, as making up for my probably erratic summer. clichés are born in truths and this week was a feast for my fingers, rather than the famine that strikes sometimes, even when I want to write.

I usually respond to The Sunday Whirl‘s prompt and never have time for others. This week it’s the Whirl, the We Write Poems prompt later this week, and what I have below from the Facebook group: My Name Is Not Bob. The challenge can be found on the blog: rhymes with tao. Head over to read what others have posted.

The exercise is a good one for when your brain is on strike, or you are bored, or restless. Wander through your books and find a poem in the titles. I am a little restricted because our books are back in San Antonio, but I played with the few we have here.

Making your own days —
where there’s a will
a whole new mind
in the palm of your hand —
sleeping on the wing
a finer end.

I’m not sure about the poetry, but playing with the titles was fun. Give it a try.

I like yours. But I’m falling so far behind on reading that I’ll give that one a miss until the famine strikes again!

I figure that’s what these are for, ViV. I think they plan to run these every Monday, so it will be there.

Now I have to go tackle Joseph’s latest brain rattler.

My brain hurts after reading this week’s reverie!

I read the opening paragraphs last night and stopped. I have my second cup of coffee next to me, have taken a deep breath and girded my loins.

Oh what fun! I have next week’s ready also, scheduled for release but probably won’t be able to use Mr. Linky as I’ll be offline for a while.

I agree, Lynn. Good for the brain to think differently, too!

I like the idea…I went to the site, but yours really made sense to me ! Funny,
when I was painting with the group at the library in Somesville, I was drawn to the titles of the books…didn’t take a photo of any, but have plenty here !
    Thanks
I enjoyed what you did with the prompt.
    Peace,

Like the idea of video titles too. My thinking cap is all thunk out for the night…but there must be a whole raft of ideas to put in this category☺♥.

“A whole new mind in the palm of your hand.” LOVE this, and thanks for leading me to the site. Spine Poetry… much better than spineless, no? Thanks, Margo, and here’s mine: http://sharplittlepencil.com/2012/05/16/an-unquiet-mind-for-rhymes-with-tao/

Thank you, Amy. I have started working with next week’s and am looking at video titles too. After all, movies start with the written word. I’m off to see yours now.
